Justice be our shield and defender
Yesterday, with nostalgia, I gave my farewell address to fellow Compatriots in the National Assembly.
I shared with them – and the Country – my political journey.
The pits and peaks; the cheers and jeers; the pains and pleasures on my sojourn that culminated into becoming a Cabinet Secretary in President William Ruto’s administration.
I did so, to encourage everyone to believe in the beauty of their dreams and to challenge those in positions of power and privilege, to hold the hands of others and guide them through their own growth.
Today, with utmost humility and alongside other equal to the task persons, I accepted the President’s appointment to serve in the Executive Arm of Government as the new Cabinet Secretary for Defence.
Taking the oath of office, I solemnly swore to serve this country with absolute impartiality and in accordance with the rule of law.
In a special way, I would wish to sincerely commend my immediate predecessor, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa and others who served before him, for their immense and priceless contributions in seeing the Ministry of Defence grow stronger and better throughout the years.
Mine would be to walk in the path they have created.
And, should I stray, it will be for a just and noble course.
It would be for country and not self.
I perfectly understand the weight bestowed upon me, the demands of this otherwise sensitive sector and the expectations the country has.
I trust, with the Guidance of God, the counsel of the President and the support of the People, we will deliver on our word and promise.
We will defend our motherland with the last of our everything.
