Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka last week allegedly sacked all doctors attached to the Kenya Airways Medical Centre in Embakasi.
This is after the doctors were reportedly caught issuing fake Covid-19 certificates to passengers after receiving bribes.
An insider said at one point, several people were flown out of the country and on reaching their destinations, the airline was forced to fly them back to Nairobi since they had no valid certificates.
The insider said some tested positive of Covid-19 upon arrival in their destinations and the return flights cost the airline millions.
A security officer attached to KAA said the Covid -19 certificate must be a widely accepted COVID-19 PCR certificate.
She told Hot News most of the certificates issued by the KQ doctors did not have Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) thus they were fake. .
The Security officer told Hot News several people were forced to cancel flights, schedule them, or miss them because of the scam.
“They were actually thrown out of the planes,” she said.
Multiple sources at JKIA confirmed the incident which happened last week.
“Jambo. Long time, I haven’t heard that, but knowing Kenyans, it’s a possibility,” said a Kenya Airways Pilot who sought anonymity.
A flight hostess said, “My conscience cannot allow me to leak out secrets”
Kenya Airways CEO Allan Kilavuka also remained tight lipped on if he sacked the doctors over the fake certificates.
He did not pick calls nor respond to text messages.
“My Dad will call you back. He’s busy now,” said a female voice which answered one of the calls.
