Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been released on Bail.
Sonko was given a shs 15 million cash bail and a 30 million bond.
The Governor has been in police custody since Friday when he was arrested over corruption.
Sonko was charged with irregular issuance of a 357 million tender.
He has denied all the charges.
However, he has been barred from accessing his office.
Anti-Corruption Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti said that he could not deny Sonko bail because the EACC annexures claiming he escaped from prison were not legible.
“Any such evidence must need evidence rule,” Ogoti aid.
He also said that Sonko has a permanent residence in Nairobi.
Ogoti warned Sonko;s co accused not to violate bond terms.
Magistrate Douglas Ogoti gagged social media from commenting on the case.
He said that if Sonko must access his office, he should be accompanied by the Investigating officer.
Ogoti also asked Sonko’s supporters not to disrupt the peace.
All the accused were ordered to deposit their passports in court.
The case will come up for mention on January 15th.
