In one swoop, the man who petitioned Kajiado County Assembly to Impeach Governor Joseph Ole Lenku and his finance minister Alais Kisota is back home with “zero returns” after MCAs rejected all his allegations.
Petitioner Musa Tipape Naini, failed to prove any of his allegations on corruption, abuse of office, among others, against the Governor and his finance minister.
The Lenku impeachment committee chaired by Rombo MCA Jackson Angaine and the Kisota probe committee chaired by Keekonyokie MCA Amos Sholoi found that the allegations by Naini could not stand the test of authenticity as they lacked documentary evidence.
Members in the committee raised queries on the abuse of office allegations as well as corruption with Mr Angaine saying,” This is a heavy matter and we are not dealing with politics. It is a matter of getting the facts right, politics or no politics.”
The MCAs rejected majority of Naini’s queries that bordered on revenue diversion, bloated contract sums, non-existent projects and illegalities in staff recruitment and promotions.
The Governor’s win against his detractors can be interpreted as a result of his warm working relationship with MCAs from both Azimio and UDA.
In fact, Mr Angaine is from UDA and was a vocal critic of the Governor.
Kisota’s survival is a second one after an earlier impeachment motion by Ngong MCA Mwaura Mbiriri last year fell flat.
He is regarded a powerful and influential operative within Governor Lenku’s administration with Naini nicknaming him “the Matiang’i of Lenku” following his maneuvers in the political grandstanding that leaves friends and foes dumbfounded.
Naini’s big loss at the Assembly seems to have deflated his vendetta campaign against the Lenku administration and may force his financiers led by State House Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito to either change tact or drop him altogether as their agent of sowing discord in the County Government.
