The tenure of former Kajiado Central MP David Sankori as chairman of the Maa Council of Elders ( Kajiado Chapter) has come to an abrupt end.
Mr Sankori exited the elders’ leadership as elders voted him out unanimously at a Special General Meeting held in Kajiado Town-Thursday evening.
The elders replaced Sankori from Kajiado East with Richard Oloitiptip from Kajiado South.
In their speeches, the elders from the nine sections of the Maasai said the Council could no longer entertain political activities among its reins saying all elected leaders across the Azimio and UDA ranks must be respected and given time to work.
“We are mixed up. In Nairobi, the Government is run by UDA. In Kajiado County, the Government is Azimio. Both are our Governments. We support them,” said Oloitiptip.
In his acceptance speech, Oloitiptip further reiterated that Kajiado’s cosmopolitan nature could not allow any of them to play politics.
“We support both the Governments of President Ruto and Governor Lenku and all those currently serving in various positions. They have been mandated by the people and they are the voice of God,” said Oloitiptip.
Others elected are;
William Ole Kasio (Vice Chairman), Rev Daniel Metoyu (Secretary General), Daniel Ole Kiok (Deputy Secretary) and Moses Ole Nailole(Patron).
The elders have been instrumental in the Maa Nation and in past elections, most backed the Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his candidates.
