A top officer at State House is in panic after a petitioner he had recruited to file a petition against Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku cried foul over a deal gone sour involving millions of shillings.
Comptroller Katoo Ole Metito is allegedly dumbfounded after Musa Tipape Naini threatened to spill the beans for failing to fulfil his part of the bargain despite him successfully filing the petition before the Assembly to send Lenku home.
Naini’s bitter fall out with his key sponsor Metito, emanates from the State House chief failure to allegedly release the second batch of Sh 3 million to push the petition through the Assembly.
Katoo is alleged to have successfully released Sh 2 million through Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi for the first phase which was to do all that could be done to file the petition.
Naini is bitter that he only received a part of the Sh 2 million which was used to pay the armed bodyguards and Land cruisers to Kajiado, at one point having had to break a fence to gain entry to the Assembly compound.
The balance of the money which is alleged was to come after filing the petition and manage its hearing is now locked up with Katoo said to have disappeared in thin air.
A short while after he filed the petition, Naini seemed to allude to the betrayal by Katoo by posting a hard-hitting statement on his personal page that castigated his sponsors for letting him down.
Sources in his inner circle said also include his elder brother Elijah Naini who writes his libelous articles on his page on his behalf were perturbed when even the Sh 2 million was unable to reach him in full through Memusi.
Katoo allegedly used Memusi after Leah Sankaire, the Woman Rep, was also unable to deliver an earlier amount to Naini and brother.
Today, a seemingly exhausted Naini, hosted a group of bloggers in Nairobi, somewhere along Murang’a Road, with the agreement that they would be enlisted to unleash the dossier against his collapsing deal with Katoo.
Interestingly, some insiders in Katoo camp seemed to distance themselves with the possibility of winning the petition before the Assembly.
But behind the scenes, Naini is said to have been dropped like a hot potato immediately he filed the petition through denial of the disbursements that were supposed to come in batches.
One of Naini’s close friends who attended the Murang’a Road meeting said confidentially,
” The problem is that the Sh 10 million to send Lenku home was to come in phases. The first phase of Sh 2 million was to deal with all that was needed to file the petition including hiring security and changing cars. Memusi held back most of that money making Tipape( Musa) cry foul and sense early signs of betrayal after filing the petition”said the close ally.
The friend from Kajiado South further intimated that the Sh 3 million he was to get to deal with the petition now before the 11-member Assembly committee is now the deal being said to be the ultimate deal breaker.
“Although they are releasing the cash, it is in small amounts less than what was agreed in Nairobi. The challenge is that Katoo is using emissaries who are elected leaders who also have interests,”said the Kajiado South friend.
Katoo is afraid that a frustrated Naini is set to blow out their dealings at a time the management of State House is becoming jittery at the diversion of office resources to Kajiado County politics.
