ODM leader Raila Odinga has been accused by a section of Re-Union Football club of abandoning the team.
The officials told Hot News that the team is now “orphaned” after Odinga and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth stopped supporting it.
They said Raila Odinga is a former Patron and Peter Kenneth Re-Union goalkeeper and later club Chairman.
Current Re-Union Secretary General Caleb Ochieng said the team was to be sold off in 2017.
“In 2017, there was one Jomo Sono who was one-time South Africa Football President. His team is called Jomo Cosmos FC. He was to partner with Re-Union FC to open football Academies across the country,” Ochieng said.
Ochieng said Jomo Sono visited Raila”s Capitol Hill office where they held talks about the purchase of the Club.
He added that the talks collapsed and Raila Odinga never got back to the team about the progress.
The teams Coach Joseph Milimu said they are facing financial constraints.
“We have a budget of kshs 2.7 million per year which will facilitate our activities,” said Milimu.
He called on well-wishers and sponsors to support the team even if it means making “small donations”

Currently the club is playing in Nairobi West County league, position 1, played 5 matches wining all.
Former Prime minister Raila Odinga was Re-Union fc Striker when it was known as Luo Union.
Former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth was Re-Union goalkeeper and he later became club Chairman.
“My request as the current Club secretary is that we need support from former club players since the club has the ability to participate in the Kenyan Premier League if we get financial support” Ochieng said.
Re union football club is the oldest football club in Kenya founded in 1926.
In 1928 it was changed to Luo Union fc. In 1980 it was renamed Re-Union following the directives from former President Moi that all community clubs to change their names.
