Security firm Securex has set aside at least shs 7million each year for scholarships.
According to the firm, the scholarship has so far benefited 30 students.
Last week, at least five new beneficiaries had their school fees paid for by the security firm.
The company said the program, which started six years ago as an employee recognition initiative, has so far seen Securex invest nearly seven million shillings.
Winners of the scholarship who are High School students had all their school fees paid for- for four years.
This year’s Securex scholarship top student was Sharon Ekolom Atabo, who scored 413 marks.
She joined Chogoria Girls.
Speaking during the awards ceremony held at the Securex 9 Riverside Headquarters, Sharon said she wants to become a doctor.
“I will forever be grateful for the confidence that the company has shown in me. This scholarship has strengthened my resolve to become a neurosurgeon. I will not let you down,” she said.
Other beneficiaries are Mitchel Nekesa who joined Cardinal Otunga Girls’ High School), Collins Mwendwa (Mbooni Boys High School), Faith Obiero (Mumbuni Girls School) and Ostine Wekesa (Khasoko High School).
Securex C.E. O Tony Sahni congratulated the students for their good performance.
“To the stars of today’s show, our dear children, the heartiest of congratulations to you for your hard work and stellar performance in your K.C.P.E exams,” Sahni said.
The Securex scholarship scheme also doubles as an employee recognition program.
“I am always humbled when I get little opportunities such as this to honour those who have given so much to the Securex. Some of you have been with us for over 20 years now. We are all in awe of your diligence and dedication to service. You are a true credit to us.” Sahni told Securex employees present.
