South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was on Saturday heckled in Harare during the funeral service of the late Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe.
Several African leaders were present.
Ramaphosa was booed at the 50 thousand seater National Sports Stadium in Harare.
The mourners who turned into hecklers asked Ramaphosa to leave the stage.
He was eulogizing Robert Mugabe.
According to Al Jazeera News Network, the hecklers said Ramaphosa was not a “Pan Africanist” because of condoning xenophobia.
However, Ramaphosa apologized to the mourners saying South Africa is not xenophobic.
South Africa may find itself embroiled in a diplomatic spat with several African countries with how it handles xenophobia.
Nigeria sent its military jets to South Africa to evacuate its Citizens whose properties were looted and premises burnt by South Africans.
South Africans claim fellow Africans have taken over their business thus they want them out.
Robert Mugabe was ousted from power in a military coup in November 2017, ending his 37-year reign.
President Uhuru eulogized Mugabe as a freedom fighter, a Pan Africanist and an elder statesman.
“Comrade Mugabe will be remembered as a Pan Africanist, and a great icon of Africa liberation,” Uhuru said.
Mugabe will be buried in Harare at the Heroes Acre after 30 days when a Mausoleum will be complete.
