After all, he pleaded not guilty to the forgery charges he was facing and vowed to follow the law.
Now he is a free man.
Even as he was facing the charges at a Nairobi based court, Pastor Jonathan Inchoong remained focused to his main mission of preaching the gospel and uplifting the lives of the poor.
He had been battling the case for over three years and his neighbor Song Seungho occasionally took his photos any time he appeared in court and posted them on social media platforms in his home Country “to taint his image”.
“Seungho has always taken my pictures here in court and posted them on social media to taint my image. I am innocent. I need your protection your honor,” he told the court.
He had accused Song of destroying his Sunday school and encroaching on his land by building a sewer line.
The sewer line was destroyed by City hall after it was confirmed that it was constructed illegally.
After the prosecution failed to prove the case against Pastor Jonathan Inchoong, Nairobi Magistrate Boaz Ombewa acquitted him and directed that his cash bail be returned to him.
Ombewa ruled that the pastor has no case to answer and was innocent.
The Director of Public Prosecution had also written a letter to court saying that he had not found out any offence committed by the pastor.
City Hall also wrote a letter to court confirming that the Pastor had gotten an approval to put up his Sunday school which was destroyed by Seungho- his neighbor.
The Court heard that Seungho had destroyed the Sunday school and forcefully tried to construct a sewer line contrary to the law.
In his ruling, Kibera Magistrate Boaz Ombewa said that the pastor was innocent and acquitted him as per the law.
“After analyzing both the prosecution and the defense and the witness statements, I find that the accused person has no case to answer,” said Ombewa.
Ombewa said that the prosecution failed to link the accused person to the offence.
“I therefore acquit Mr. Kang as per the law,” he ruled.
