Health experts have raised the alarm over low vaccination of children in conflict zones.
Led by Chief Executive Officer at the Health NGOs Network Mercy Onsando, they said this has affected the children’s health in these areas.
Onsando called on Kenyans to take their children for vaccination.
She called on the ministry of Health to increase domestic financing for Immunization.
Dr Onsando added that since the Covid-19 Pandemic broke out, several Vaccination programmes at the Ministry of Health stalled.
“Children who live-in urban settings face context-specific challenges which among other issues hinder them from accessing immunization services. In addition, conflict-affected settings have led to many children missing vaccines while there continues to be challenges in reaching remote rural populations,” she said.
She called on Parliament to develop laws and policies that address adequate immunization financing in Kenya.
Onsando added that to do this, Kenya must address complacency within immunization programmes.
