The Nairobi County Assembly adhoc committee investigating significant drop of revenue collection has alleged that several KRA officers are aiding in reversal of several transactions made.
The committee chaired by majority leader Peter Imwatok summoned senior officers from the County Finance department to explain why the reversals have become rampant.
To face the reps, was Finance CEC Charles Kerich.
“Chairman, we only have access to the dashboard and we cannot change anything, we cannot reverse transactions,” Kerich told the reps.
ODM nominated MCA Fathiya Abdilahi said the county government is losing millions through the reversals.
“It emerged during the two-day public participation that huge amounts paid for services rendered by the county were reversed. Two Kenya Revenue Authority officers who allegedly have control of the system were identified. Andrew Wamae and one Mr Nyota were blamed for the illegal reversals,” said MCA Fathiya.
The KRA officers were not accorded time to respond to the query and the committee adjourned to 9th January 2024.
