Many Golfers have complained that they have been affected by the Governments move to ban International Conferences and Golf tournaments in the Country.
The Golfers have resorted to social media complaining that the Governments directive will affect their tournaments.
However, several senior government officials have termed the Golfers sentiments as “insensitive”.
The officials said they are determined to ensure the Corona Virus does not spread to Kenya and no such tournaments will go on at the expense of Kenyans lives.
“Golfers are not special people to be allowed from other Countries to host their tournaments here. They may land in Kenya and bring the Corona Virus. We will not allow any tournament to take place,” said the officer.
One Golfer posted on Social Media that many golfers are already here in Nairobi.
“They wanted to come to Kenya because all their other tournaments in Asia were cancelled. They could make some good money here. Kenya was considered safe and they were happy to come here. Why bans such events!” ranted the Golfer.
The Golfer said that last night’s Kenya Airways flight from London to Nairobi was full and that people aren’t scared to come to Kenya.
But the government officials insisted they will not treat the Golfers in any special way.
“Let them keep their money. Every life matter and that money can’t buy life,” the officials said.
Kenya has imposed a 30-day ban on all conferences of an International nature to contain the corona Virus.
