The officer in charge of Karen police station is facing four criminal charges after the Director of Public Prosecutions agreed with investigations conducted by the Internal Affairs Unit.
Chief Inspector Purity Kobia will take plea today, April 5,2024 at Milimani law courts.
She has been charged with conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code as well as stealing a motor vehicle contrary to section 278 of the Penal Code.
Kobia is also facing other charges of false swearing and abuse of office contrary to sections 114 and 101(1) of the Penal Code respectively.
The Internal Affairs Unit (I.A.U) has been investigating the senior police woman after receiving a complaint filed against her by Ms. Siama Rahma that she unlawfully disposed her motor vehicle Reg. No. KCR 526R, a Mazda demio through a public auction.
The I.A.U is mandated under section 87 of the National Police Service Act No. 11A of 2011 to receive and investigate complaints against police officers.
