At least 5,000 poor families have received food rations from the Sonko Rescue Team (SRT).
SRT head Francis Wambua Kivuva said the team has scaled up its operations after the High Court stopped Internal Security PS Karanja Kibicho from ordering the demolition of its sanitation booths.
So far, sixteen wards have been covered in Nairobi including Makongeni, Viwandani and Kibra.
“Our goal is to feed many poor families. We will traverse all the 17 Constituencies in Nairobi,” said SRT Head Wambua.
He said every food pack contains salt, sugar, tea leaves, maize flour, wheat flour, cooking oil and one thousand shillings note.
“When they visit the Upper Hill office, we disinfect and test them of Covid 19. Thereafter, we give them sanitizers and a mask to prevent them from contracting the disease,” he said.
We also give Hennessey to those who are willing.
For Muslims, SRT is giving them 90 Kgs of rice for every four needy families.
