City Reps have opposed calls to shut down tainted and run down Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
They said despite several people losing their lives at the hospital, it serves hundreds of residents and closing it down will lead to a serious health crisis.
Calls to close down the hospital started after the Senate’s Health Committee led by Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago listened to witness accounts and harrowing tales of how they lost their kins and loved ones due to negligence at the facility.
The MCAs led by Mountain View Ward Rep Maurice Ochieng who is also the chairperson for Health Committee at the Assembly said the services at the hospital are still needed by many Kenyans and it should remain open as investigations continue.
“We support the Senate that more needs to be done to improve services at the Hospital. As the Health Committee, we will engage the County Executive to ensure that Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital becomes a center for saving lives. There must be dignity to all patients,” Ochieng said.
