Principal Secretary for Culture, Heritage and Sports Jospheta Mukobe has warned the youth not to dream of white collar jobs.
The PS said white collar jobs are no longer available.
She said her ministry is embracing culture, sports and heritage and trying to create jobs.
She was speaking in Bunyala North during a culture expo.
“We recognize the importance of culture, heritage and Sports and we are committed to develop this industry with the help of county governments,” she said.
The PS added that local communities should also contribute towards supporting sportsmen and women.
Mukobe lauded the elders on their role in passing culture from one generation to the other.
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi said that County Government of Busia will work with the ministry of culture, heritage and Sports to nurture talents.
The DG urged Members of the Busia County Assembly to increase funding for culture, heritage and Sports, noting that the county is emerging as powerhouse in sports and gymnastics.
Busia Assembly speaker Bernard Wamalwa echoed Deputy Governor’s sentiments telling MCAs to organize expos at ward levels with finals at County level.
Acting Culture and Sports Executive John Mwami urged the National Government to gazette all Animal sanctuaries and beaches to make Busia County another “Mombasa”.
