Public works Principal Secretary Paul Maringa has said the government is committed to offering quality basic education to all pupils.
The PS spoke on Saturday at Ngaru Primary School in Kirinyaga county during the official commissioning of modern toilet blocks and awarding of the top 2019 KCPE candidates.
He said the Government is keen on improving schools’ infrastructure.
Maringa challenged both parents and pupils to believe that “anything is possible in life”.
“I urge each of you including your parents to believe in yourselves. Change your mind -sets and believe that with commitment anything is possible in life.” Maringa said.
The PS urged residents to differentiate between acts of charity and politics.
“There are those of us who always see a hidden agenda in place of charity.” He said.
He was the chief guest.
He is an alumnus of Ngaru Primary School.
He was accompanied by Government Vehicle Check Unit Commander Marcella Adanje who is the chairperson of Ngaru Primary School Alumni Association.
Others present at the ceremony were representatives from Professional Criminologists Association of Kenya (PCAK) and Bobaboda Association of Kenya National Chairman Kevin Mubandi among others.
Mubandi said his Association was keen on improving the image of Bobaboda.
“We are doing everything within our reach to make the industry safe and reliable” he said.
He added that his members have a special duty to protect children.
Director Research, Training and Publication Elija Kirimi represented PCAK.
Kirimi said plans are underway to introduce Life Skills and Safety Clubs in schools countrywide. This he said will help fight drug abuse, early sex among other societal ills.
He said everyone has a duty to give back to the society.
“You give what you have but not when you have. There is no time you will accumulate enough.” He said.
