A 15-year-old Girl from Taita Tavata has been defiled by her Uncle.
The incident has been condemned by women leaders led by Governor Granton Samboja’s advisor on Women, Gender and Social Welfare Priscilla Mwangeka.
The incident happened in Mwakingali in Voi.
She asked the police to arrest the culprit.
“It is sad that the man took advantage of the disabled girl. As women from this County, we will not rest until the man is arrested. He will serve as an example to others with the same habits,” warned Mwangeka.
She said her office through the County government will take the girl to Nairobi Women hospital for specialized treatment.
“As a government, we will not allow our girls to continue suffering in the hands of barbaric pedophiles. This habit must come to an end,” she said.
The girl who is physically challenged was reportedly defiled by a man said to be his uncle.
According to the family, the girl revealed her ordeal to her grandmother after she could not bear the pains on her private parts and abdomen.
“The girl was complaining that she had pains on her abdomen. However, when I closely watched her, I realized she had difficulties in walking. On probing her further, she revealed that she had been sexually abused by a man she has known to be an uncle since childhood,” said the girl’s grandmother.
Her mother said that the girl has challenges in speaking and is partially blind.
“In the evening the girl does not see. She also has challenges in speaking since her childhood. The man who did this to her has since disappeared from the village after the incident came to light. We reported the matter to the police. According to the girl, he threatened to kill her if she reveals the ordeal,” said the distraught mother.
County Chief of Protocol Rachel Dawai, Governor’s office administrator Mary Mngola and Mbololo ward administrator Topister Lenjo were among those who visited the family.
