Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has said he will not be distracted by “busy bodies”.
Sonko said the “busy bodies” want to distract him from helping the poor during this time of Covid-19 pandemic.
He said he has donated food, sanitizers, and water tanks to the poor.
The latest ward to benefit from his philanthropy was Uthiru ward where food was taken to the elderly on Thursday.
A total of 40 wards have been covered.
“As promised my team is today continuing with efforts to cushion vulnerable communities in Nairobi as they face negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. We have today distributed foodstuffs and non-food items to residents of Imara Daima, Mukuru kwa njenga, Pangani ward Eastleigh North ward, Viwandani ward, through their respective MCAs,” he said.
He said the exercise is being carried out in conjunction with all the 85 MCAs regardless of their political affiliation.
“I will not be distracted by individuals or busy bodies in our efforts to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in Nairobi City,” he said.
In the past, members of the Sonko Rescue Team who were out to help the poor have ben arrested and arraigned in court.
However, Sonko has vowed to remain steadfast.
