Busia County has launched two isolation centers dedicated to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi has announced.
Addressing the press on the sidelines of USAID Kenya Integrated Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Project (KIWASH) Sharing and Close Out Meeting at Hotel Itoya, the DG said two rooms of six beds each have been set aside at Busia and Malaba borders towns.
He said the county is not taking chances in the wake of reports that Kenya recorded its first COVID-19 case on Friday.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said a woman was diagnosed with Covid-19 on March 12 after traveling to Kenya from the US via London.
The DG cautioned residents to always wash hands with sanitizers and reduce the culture of hand greetings and public gatherings.
Mulomi revealed that two committees have been formed to coordinate Coronavirus awareness campaign in the county to forestall any eventuality.
He said one committee will be co-chaired by the Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and the County Commissioner Joseph Kanyiri.
The technical committee will be led by doctors in- charge of diseases, noting that the committees will be devolved to Sub Counties.
The DG who is also the acting health executive also revealed that Busia County referral hospital has received equipment to be used in the fight against the contagious disease.
