Roads and Transport CS Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, is set to flag off the first edition of the Belgut Marathon, Belgut Constituency, Kericho County.
The 10Km Road Race set to take place on Sunday 6th August,2023 will commence at Chepnyogaa center near Kabianga University at 8.00 am and end at the Sosiot Grounds. The race has attracted seasoned athletes from Kericho and across Kenya, political leaders, friends of Belgut, Corporate sponsors and other well-wishers.
In order to boost fees collection for current students and expand intake for the coming years, Belgut NG CDF has organized this 10-kilometer marathon for both men and women. The monies collected from sponsors, well-wishers and participants shall all be channeled to the two schools.
“My predecessors started the Belgut Starehe schools, all I did was to grow their vision and scale up capacity. Initially the number of students were 40, as of this year our numbers have surpassed 450, more than 300 catered for by NG-CDF” said MP Belgut, Nelson Koech.

Collection of bip numbers and t- shirts for registered participants shall be done at Kapmaso Secondary School from 5.00 am to 7.30 am on Sunday. Collection can also be done on Friday 4TH August and Saturday 5th August,2023 at the Sosiot CDF office.
“NG-CDF can no longer sustain the huge number, So I call upon all Kenyans of goodwill to join me and other well-wishers to promote talent as well as fundraise for the Belgut Starehe Schools,” he further added MP Koech.
More About Belgut Taptugen Starehe Boys and Belgut Starehe girls
Belgut Taptugen Starehe Boys and Belgut Starehe Girls are Public special secondary schools in Belgut Constituency. The schools take in orphans and extremely needy students in addition to the students under normal government programme. The schools started with 20 orphan boys and 20 orphan girls. Current population of the school is 235 girls and 250boys (orphans being 120 for girls and 130 for boys). Last year mean grade was 6.0 for girls and 5.9 for boys.
The orphans and needy students in the school rely on well-wishers including NG CDF to foot their school fees.
