The government barred all flights from across the world from flying Miguna Miguna into the country.
The order was issued in June 2018.
Documents in our possession show that those that will fly him into Kenya will be sanctioned.
In a letter to the Chairman of all airline operators in Kenya, the immigration assistant director based at JKIA said then that Miguna Miguna who is a Canadian citizen of passport number HP679627 is a prohibited immigrant.
The letter went on to say that Miguna was removed from Kenya in February 2018 and that he was deported after he tried to re-enter Kenya on 26th March 2018.
“All the airline operators out of JKIA are hereby notified not to board this passenger without express clearance by the director of immigration service’s-Kenya,”
“Please note that any carrier conveying the said passenger into Kenya without clearance will be subject to sanctions as guided and prescribed by ICAO regulations and the Kenya citizenship and immigration act,” the letter read.
The letter said Miguna tried to return to Kenya on 26th March on flight EK719 and failed.
The letter adds that Miguna refused to produce the travel documents which he used to board in Dubai thus the government declared him inadmissible and that it was forced to return him on the same carrier.
By then, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko who had nominated Miguna Miguna as his deputy.
A section of Jubilee MCAs had supported Sonko’s move whereas the party leadership had condemned him (Sonko) for nominating Miguna Miguna.
In May 2018, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi had said that the MCAs will vet and approve Miguna if he is allowed into the Country by the immigration department.
Elachi had said the MCAs will go by the Governor’s choice.
In June 2018, our source at JKIA who tipped us with the letter said that Kenyans may be treated to more drama if Miguna Miguna attempts to fly back.
“After all, no airline will fly him here. I am a pilot and I have received the letter. I cannot allow him to board my plane,” said our tipster Pilot.
In the same Month of June 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta had been in Canada for a whole week and ended his G7 summit.
Miguna had been deported to Canada.
Canada backed Kenya’s plans to tap its Ocean resources and improve two-way investment.
Miguna Miguna remained silent while the President was in Canada.
He did not tweet nor issue any statement.
On Tuesday night, Miguna was barred from using an Air France to jet into the Country.
Earlier, Germany’s Lufthansa Airline declined to fly him into the Country.
