Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has cleared the hospital bill for one infant Faith Mwende who died last year, and her body detained by Nairobi Women Hospital.
The hospital detained the body after the infant’s mother Janet Kamene was unable to raise shs 37,000 to clear the medical bills.
On Monday, Sonko asked anyone who knew Janet to ask her to contact the Sonko Rescue Team so that she can get help.
Come Tuesday, Sonko had managed to get in touch with her and cleared the bills.
“Thanks to all of you for responding to the request for contacts of Janet Kamene after her sad case for help was reported by Mbaitu fm and Athiani fm radio stations. Janet is the mother of the Late Faith Mwende whose body was detained by Nairobi Women’s Hospital for inability to pay a medical bill of Ksh. 37,300. We have managed to clear the bill and right now Sonko Rescue Team is helping Mama Kamene organize a decent send off for Angel Faith Mwende. Asanteni sana,” Sonko thanked Kenyans.
On her part, Kamene thanked Sonko for the good gesture saying he is a “True friend of Humanity”.
