After beating up the opposition and stifling dissenting voices, Tanzania’s John Pombe Magufuli was finally sworn in for a second term on Thursday.
The event took place at a National Stadium in Dodoma and was attended by his fellow perceived African strongmen who included Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda.
Recently, Museveni ordered a crackdown on the opposition in Uganda which saw his main opponent Bobby Wine arrested and locked up.
Also present was Zimbabwe’s Emmerson Mnangagwa who has been nicknamed back home (Crocodile).
President Emmerson was the man behind the arrest and detention of the late former Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
The opposition in Tanzania has denounced the vote saying it was rigged in favor of the CCM candidate.
Magufuli won 84 percent of the vote and his main challenger Tundu Lisu 13 percent.
The Tanzanian constitution does not allow the challenging of presidential results.
