President John Pombe Magufuli has assured Tanzanians that the October 28, 2020 General Elections will proceed as planned.
He said the East African Nation “overcame ” the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that continue to ravage the world.
Addressing the Nation on Wednesday through the National Broadcaster TBC1, the President claimed Covid-19 is “no-longer a threat” in the country after they “defeated” it.
He was speaking in the Capital Dodoma when he commissioned the eight-storied Electoral Commission Offices.
“The “success” against Covid-19 that preceded the three-day National Prayer Day was victory from God; this has set the stage for the national elections which I beseech the electoral body to conduct in a fair and transparent manner,” he said.
He urged the opposition to hold peaceful campaigns that will kick off in August 28 and observe the rule of law.
He said the welfare of Tanzanians is more important than an individual.
