A caucus of Youth from Westland’s Constituency, Nairobi, has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe as Cabinet Secretary for Health.
Meeting at a Nairobi Hotel under the auspice of United Wetlands, the youth said Kagwe has the experience and expertise to manage the Health docket.
They were led by former Mt View MCA aspirant Chrispinus Wekesa.
Others who spoke during the event were ODM Youth leaders Evans Ochieng and Livingstone Imbwaga alias Sande.
Wekesa said Kagwe who is a Journalist by profession, understands diverse issues.
“Kagwe is a former information minister. He was the brainchild behind cheaper internet charges and reduced call rates. Were it not for his leadership, Kenyans would still be paying high prices for internet, phone calls and there would be slow connectivity,” he said.
He added that MPs should hasten his vetting and approval since he is “more than qualified”
Wekesa also said Kagwe is the right man who will ensure delivery of health services to all Kenyans especially cancer patients.
“Kagwe’s in tray is full- just like how he handled the information docket during the Kibaki regime, he should also ensure that our hospitals deliver excellent Medicare. He should come up with mechanisms that will ensure cancer drugs are cheaper and Kenyans do not flock to India for treatment, “he said.
