Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) Western Region chairman Josephat Otiende has lauded Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for honoring his pre-election pledge and considering five teachers in his cabinet.
Speaking during 15th Western Region Annual Delegates Conference at Farm View Hotel in Busia Town on, Otiende said the kind gesture is a true manifestation of the Governor’s sound leadership.
“That is why we have always felt indebted to you. We recognize your leadership and we shall always be there for you; we know that you recognize us, so I want to say thank you very much,” Otiende said.
The KEPSHA boss also said that they have resolved to have all their annual regional conference in Busia in order to promote local tourism.
He added that they are also pushing for the national conference to be held in Busia.
The teachers serving in the County Government as County Executive Committee Members are John Mwami (Education), Okwara Ekirapa (Public Works), Professor Grephas Opata (Lands) and Phaustine Barasa finance.
Mwami is also acting CECM for Youth, Culture and Sports.
The Governor lauded those who were recruited into his cabinet from the teaching profession for their splendid work and singled out Finance CECM Phaustine Barasa for improving revenue collection.
He lauded the school heads for ensuring education standards in the County improve despite financial constraints and challenges in implementing the Competence-based curriculum.
He told school heads to be firm and not to allow cultural practices to ruin their institutions.
