Simlaw Seeds-s a subsidiary of the Kenya Seed Company limited has launched an online shop.
According to the Company General Manager David Kiplagat, the online platform will create visibility of agriculture products to farmers.
Kiplagat called on farmers to take advantage of the online shop to access a variety of seeds.
He said online shoppers will also get an 11 percent discount.
It will take three working days for farmers to get their products after ordering online.
“We have partnered with courier services like Nation, EMS and Boda Boda riders. This has also created employment to thousands of Boda Boda riders,” he said.
The MD was happy that the online platform will also reduce the chances of famers buying fake seeds.
He Simlaw seeds has partnered with KEPHIS to help eliminate the fake seeds.
“We are only complementing what our Stockists do. We are not eliminating them from the supply chain,” he said
He also added that the platform will help the Seed company get prompt and immediate feedback from farmers.
“We are also focused on getting young people on Board. The youth have the potential to grow the country’s economy. 25 percent of Kenya’s GDP comes from Agriculture. We are focused on ensuring that we produce good seeds that are high yielding,” he said.
