ODM Leader Raila Odinga today unleashed his ODM lieutenants to hit former Kajiado Governor David Nkedienye for betraying him and bolting to Jubilee Party.
In a hurriedly convened ODM aspirants meeting at the instruction of Mr Odinga, the aspirants declared they would back the Re- election of Governor Joseph Ole Lenku by first backing his quest for the Jubilee Party’s ticket which Nkedienye is also eyeing.
The first salvo from the ODM brigade was the announcement by the ODM gubernatorial hopeful Tarayia Ole Kores that he had dropped his bid for the top seat to support Governor Lenku’s re-election.
It was followed by a hard hitting statement against Dr Nkedienye’s defection from ODM and his lack of respect for Mr Odinga.
The aspirants then jointly said they would fully back Mr Lenku, first to acquire the Jubilee ticket, and then at the ballot to face off with whoever UDA would nominate.
“We were shocked by Nkedienye’s betrayal which happened at the worst time. We have consulted our party leader and have decided we shall support Lenku. We shall fight Nkedienye politically on land, sea and in the air,” said Kores.
Kores later joined Azimio La Umoja aspirants in Keekonyokie Ward and broke the news to jubilant aspirants.
Incidentally, the ODM onslaught against Nkedienye comes only a day after Governor Lenku had a consultative meeting with Mrs Ida Odinga in Nairobi.
Mrs Odinga is scheduled to visit Oloitokitok in Kajiado County on Monday next week to unveil the County’s Azimio La Umoja Women’s Brigade.
Mr Kores exit from the gubernatorial race is a big boost to Governor Lenku’s camp as it plots to first strangle Dr Nkedienye’s bid for the Jubilee ticket and later face the UDA candidate.
