Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Agnes Kagure has denied claims that she lost shs 8 million to one of her Lawyers.
Social media has been awash with reports that the lawyer who was to carry the cash for facilitation during the launch of her Gubernatorial bid “failed to turn up”.
The launch took place last week at the Kasarani Stadium.
Social media reports indicated that several groups who had been mobilized to attend were not paid their allowances on time.
This forced Kagure to get cash from “other sources” to pay the attendees their allowances, mobilization fees, and other costs that had been incurred.
The launch was successful since it was well attended.
However, Kagure was reportedly angry with her lawyer only identified as “Maloba” for not availing the cash.
It’s not clear if the lawyer will avail the cash or not.
However, Kagure denied the claims saying they are rumors.
Here is her statement:
Since I launched my Nairobi gubernatorial bid on Friday the 7th of January 2022, many busybodies have mounted all manner of attacks against the Kasarani event.
Others have gone on overdrive in cooking propaganda to try to discredit an event that seems to have caught many by surprise.
The rumors being peddled to the effect that there are suppliers who have not been paid yet are being made so that groups of goons are paid to stage demonstrations, the excuse being that we owe them.
As a matter of fact, there are suppliers we have worked with over the years with credit term arrangements.
Some will expect their pay in 30 days of delivery of their goods, but the truth is most of the people and companies that supplied us for the 7th January event have been sorted out already.
All in all, the dirtiest way of discrediting anyone’s candidature be it for MCAs, Governor or even Presidential aspirants is to cast them in bad light.
Trying to portray me as a dishonest contestant is a cheap tactic employed by some hopeless desperadoes who have nothing better to do.
By the way, I saw a section of businesswomen from Nairobi protesting that there are politicians who are calling them to intimidate them to withdraw their support from me as an aspiring governor for Nairobi City come August 2022.
I believe there are so many other similar efforts out there sponsored by my detractors and political competitors.
I believe the whole idea is to cow me and derail my Nairobi Gubernatorial bid. To them I say I will not budge at all.
I have made up my mind and there is absolutely no way I will abandon my quest to become the next governor of Nairobi, “tupatane kwa debe!
No amount of lies, disinformation, misinformation and propaganda will distract me.
Therefore, treat this idle gossip with the contempt it deserves.
While at it, ask those organizing attacks against me to tell Kenyans how much money from the KEMSA scandal they intend to use for campaigns this year.
