Residents of Dam Estate in Kitisuru ward whose houses were razed by a fierce fire last week received food donations from the Ananda Marga Mission.
They were also given mattresses and blankets.
The Items were donated on Saturday Morning by Dinesh Kumar from the Mission.
Kumar distributed food stuff worth shs 250,000 to over 200 residents.
According to the residents, Kumar is father to the fatherless and often gives hope to the hopeless.
Kitisuru is a leafy suburb housing the who is who in Kenya,
However, its surrounded by slums like Dam View Estate.
Last year, President Uhuru Kenyatta honored him for exemplary humanitarian services.
Addressing the media at the Ananda Marga Mission complex in Mountain View Estate along Waiyaki way, Kumar who was flanked by Kitisuru Chief Florence Mbwika and other area leaders said he was deeply touched by the pain the residents go through.
The area chief thanked Dinesh Kumar for the help.
“We are able to identify those who were affected. Nobody will miss the mattresses. Over 142 houses were destroyed by the fire that left them homeless. We need well-wishers to emulate what he has done. He has touched many with his great service to humanity. God will bless him, “Chief Florence Mbwika said.
The Ananda Marga Mission organization which is supported by individuals and local donors is a non-profit making charitable body that caters to vulnerable children.
“Our work is to restore hope through our health care services, where there is hopelessness, restore shattered dreams, heal hurting souls and bring smiles to sad faces” Kumar said.
