The race for Nairobi Senator has attracted several candidates.
The latest candidate is President Uhuru Kenyatta’s longtime friend Badi Ali who is also a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Badi seeks to take over from Senator Johnson Sakaja who is not “sure if he will defend his seat”.
In the past, Sakaja had hinted of going for the Governor’s Seat.
Badi was born in Nairobi and grew up around Pumwani area in Kamukunji.
He is fondly referred to as “Boy Wa Mtaa”.
He told Hot News that once elected to office, he will ensure City residents get quality services from the County Government.
“The Senators role is not simply limited to legislation and oversight, but the City needs a Senator who will ensure both the County and National Governments deliver services to the people,” he said.
Badi has already put in place a total of 85 teams who are carrying out door to door campaigns in all the wards in Nairobi.
Speaking during one of the meet the poor tour – several youth groups from Westlands promised to support Badi.
“He is a young man like us. We will support him because he has the youths and special groups interests at heart,” said William Ochieng from Kangemi ward.
