Makadara subcounty in Nairobi has a new deputy county commissioner Faith Murage.
She took over from Fredrick Ndunga who has been promoted and transferred to Machakos as the new county commissioner.
Murage said top of her agenda is to ensure security is all time tight by working closely with the sub county security committee.
“Priority number one is to enhance security. We are going to be very aggressive to ensure businesses are not threatened by petty crimes.” She told Hot News on Wednesday.
She spoke at Makadara subcounty commissioner’s office during a handing over ceremony that was graced by Makadara MP George Aladwa, chiefs and their assistants.
Aladwa refused to address the media.
Makadara subcounty police commander Abubakar Abdi and his Buruburu counterpart Adamson Bungei among other senior security officers attended.
Ndunga exuded confidence that the new DCC is equal to the task.
“From her speech I have confidence she will deliver. I have handed to her a very effective team.” Ndunga said.
He appealed to residents of Makadara to remain united.
“Unity is strength, once you speak as one voice the government will listen to your needs.” He said.
Ndunga said the curfew occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic has lowered the rate of crime in the subcounty.
He however urged the security organs to remain vigilant and up their game after the pandemic.
