Butula Boys and Kolanya Girls produced top students in the 2019 KCSE exams.
The results were released on Wednesday by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Mogoha.
Coincidentally, the two are National schools.
Two boys from Butula Luke Hillary Ger and Bonvenja Anabwani scored an A- of 80 points each, missing a point to score A plain. The school had three A minuses in total.
Kolanya Girls with a total of 4 A- produced the top girl in Busia County.
The girl is Cheruto Micell with 78 points.
During the Kenya Science and Engineering fair, she emerged the best.
She said she wants to pursue Medicine.
The School Principal Fanice Manyala said the school has improved with a mean score of 6.08.
Nambale Boys produced a total of 8 -As to lead other schools.
Kennedy Otieno was the top student at the school with 79 points.
Sigalame is second in quality grades with 6A-.
Nyongesa Edwin led with 79 points.
Kolanya and Butula came third and fourth respectively.
St Benedict’s Budalang’i Secondary broke a 10-year-old record by producing two students with A- led by Andera Antony Ibrahim with 75 points.
It will send 31 students to University.
There were celebrations at St Joseph’s Kocholia Secondary School in Teso North after producing the first A- in 30 years courtesy of Omunane Sande Alvin.
Governor’s chief of staff Sebastian Okiring’ is the school’s Board of management chairman.
St Joseph’s Kaliwa in Teso South produced one student who scored an A- .
He is Papai Wilberforce.
Kitutu Philemon of St Mark’s Machakusi Secondary in Teso South also scored an A- with 74 points.
St Mathias Busia Secondary had one A- of 75 points courtesy of Barasa Makadia Solomon.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong thanked the schools in the county for improved results compared to previous years.
” My government had promised to award laptops to students who score A plain, but this has remained elusive since 2016,” he said.
The top pupil in Busia County in 2015 KCPE at Ebenezer Academy Ongura John Jaffery scored an A plain at Mangu High.
He is the son of nominated MCA Angela Nafula.
Aristranchus Dan Oumah, son of ODM Matayos Sub -branch chairman Mr Linus Oumah scored an A- of 77 at Kakamega High.
Annan Omaset and Brian Omaset scored B+and B- respectively at Friends School Bokoli and Kamuriai secondary schools.
They are brothers to Busia Governors personal assistant Carine Orapidi.
