A criminal case where a man assaulted a pregnant wife over text messages in his phone will be heard on October 22
On January 31, Abdul Rezak Rehan allegedly kicked his seven months old pregnant wife Uzma Igbal on the stomach.
This is after she tried to seek answers from him on why he was flirting with strange women.
Igbal came across love messages in his husbands’ phone.
It is said the accused was questioned by his wife about the said texts before a confrontation occurred which occasioned her bodily harm.
The complainant, the police report says was rescued by her family who took her to the hospital.
The accused denied the charges and through his lawyer Isaac Okinyo who described him as a family man and law-abiding citizen
The case had come up for hearing on Friday, but the magistrate ordered it to proceed on October 22.
This came after the defence lawyer, Isaac Okinyo requested for another date on grounds that they had not been supplied with witness statements and documentary evidence.
The suspect was released on Sh 50,000 cash bail or Sh 200,000 bond by a Kibera Court.
