A businessman was on Friday arraigned in court for obtaining credit by false pretenses at K1 Club House in Parklands.
Benedict Nyanjong Bodo on 29th October 2021 obtained Credit amounting to Ksh 36,950 from the Club House by falsely pretending that he was able to pay for the food and the drinks.
According to the police report, the accused went to the K1 Club House in Parklands at around 1600hrs and ordered drinks worth Ksh 11,825.
He paid in cash a total of Ksh 11,000 and was left with a balance of Ksh 825.
He was later joined by 7 of his friends at his table and ordered for them food and drinks on his bill.
The police say that he ordered for his other friends from different tables and directed the waitress to add the bills to his.
Benedict was then asked to pay for the bill which was amounting to a total of Ksh 36,950 after he tried to leave.
He disputed and refused to pay the bill even after he was shown the receipts and started insulting both the waitress and the management.
This prompted the management to call the police who then arrested the accused and took him to Parklands Police station.
He was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts.
He was released on a bond of shs 80,000 and a cash bail of shs 10,000.
The case is set to be heard on a later date.
