The County Government of Nairobi has announced that it will spend Sh400 million to upgrade community health centers.
City Hall said this will boost access to health services at the ward level.
The Mbagathi District Hospital will undergo a major facelift, with an allocation of Sh150 million this financial year.
The facelift will include construction of a new Intensive Care Unit, Outpatient Department, a new Inpatient Ward, a new laboratory, among others.
The upgrade of Mbagathi Hospital will expand the hospital’s bed capacity to 120 with the construction of a new wing that will have a 60-bed capacity in addition to the old wing which also has a bed capacity of 60 beds.
In the Controller of Budget report for 2018/19, the county spent at least Sh6 million in every ward for upgrading health facilities.
