A leaked phone conversation between Kitusuru MCA Alvin Palapa and Kariobangi MCA Julius Maina Njoka has revealed the rot among MCAs at City Hall.
In the conversation, Palapala is heard admitting stealing public cash.
The irony is that Palapala goes on to say that he will “Go to heaven” because he is honest.
“I will go to heaven, call a spade a spade, no one can help the Governor where things have reached. Since you were elected, do you have any money in your bank account that can sort out an emergency? I keep telling you, you don’t know what it means to be re-elected,”
“During Kideros time, we used to go to finance Chief Officer Luke Gatimu and tell him to pay contractors and we go pick our ten percent. We used to take Disaster management cash and use half of it. If there was a fire in your place, the Kidero administration would give you shs 500,000 and you take shs 300,000 buy mattresses and keep the rest,” Palapala tells Njoka.
He goes on, “We used to go to the cash office and pick shs 50,000 and shs 100,000. There used to be money,”
Palapala goes on to say that Kidero cared less when MCAs embezzled bursary money.
“There is no money. For one month, I haven’t gone out and cheated on my wife,” Palapala is heard saying.
Governor Sonko said he stopped the corruption after he realized the MCAs were stealing.
“Mocking and Self confession by MCA Kitsuru Hon. Palapala that he steals bursary meant for poor students in his ward. That he used to take between 50k to 100k per day at the cash office before we barred physical handling at the cash office. He used to steal disaster management funds. Used to push for payments for contractors who supply air and demand for 10% from them,” Sonko wondered.
