After saying they will support ANC’s Eliud Owalo for the Kibra MP’s seat, City MCA’s have made an about turn and now say they will support ODM’s Imran Okoth.
The by-election is scheduled for November 7th.
Imran is a brother to the late Ken Okoth.
After falling out with ODM leader, Eliud Owalo decamped to ANC and was cleared by the Party and is being supported by ANC leader Musalia Madavadi.
Led by minority leader who is also Kileleshwa MCA Elias Otieno, the reps had earlier said during a public rally in Vihiga County that ODM party would support Eliud Owalo and not Imran Okoth.
The reps had earlier claimed ODM Leader Raila Odinga colluded with Imran to cremate Ken Okoth – against the family’s wishes.
However, after they were whipped by the Party, the reps now say they are supporting Imran.
“ODM will retain its seat and Owalo should not use what I said in Vihiga to campaign. He will never become the Kibra MP. We assure Imran 100 percent support,” Otieno said.
They also asked Jubilee candidate Mac Donald Mariga to quit the race saying he will eventually lose.
Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok said that the meeting was a show of unity .
The reps said they will organize a mega rally and ask the residents to vote for Imran Okoth.
Okoth died on 26th July after a long battle with cancer.
