Nairobi MCAs eulogized the late Former President Daniel Moi in a special sitting on Monday as a great Educationist and Environmentalist.
The sitting was called by Speaker Beatrice Elachi.
They said Moi championed for a united country through his Nyayo philosophy of peace, love and unity.
Minority leader David Mberia who is also the Ward rep for Karen said Moi ruled for 24years therefore “overstaying in power”.
He urged Kenyans who suffered in Moi’s hands to forgive him but not to forget.
Deputy Majority leader Millicent Mugadi who is the Ward Rep for Kariokor urged her colleagues to emulate the good values of President Moi.
She said President Moi was humble enough to relinquish power in 2002.
She condemned African leaders like Uganda’s President Museveni for clinging to power.
ODM nominated MCA Mellab Atemah said she depended on Moi’s bursaries for her education.
She said she occasionally visited State House when she was a member of a local choir during music festivals.
Atemah said the former Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) news anchor Jackline Kamonya who is currently abroad was spotted by Moi after reciting a poem for him in a state function and thereafter Moi sponsored her education.
Atemah urged President Uhuru to embrace Moi’s rule in his leadership to fight corruption as Moi immediately fired corrupt ministers.
She added that Moi was a Pan African and defended Kenya’s sovereignty.
