Nairobi MCAs have passed a motion compelling Governor Mike Sonko to establish a Nairobi City County Sister Cities Committee.
Sister Cities is an International, non-partisan and non-profit Organization which serves as the National Membership organization for individual sister Cities, Counties and States across the United States.
The motion was moved by Nominated MCA Emapet Kemunto.
The committee will comprise of the Speaker as the chairperson, nine MCAs, three members of the public familiar with Sister Cities International and the first speaker of Nairobi City County Assembly.
The former Speaker Alex Ole Magelo was amongst the architects of the idea to interlink Nairobi City with other Cities in the world.
MCA Kemunto was proposed the Vice Chairperson of the said committee by Makongeni ward rep Peter Imwatok who doubles up as the Minority Chief whip.
Ngando Ward Rep Peter Wahinya congratulated Emapet for the “bond building motion”.
Wahinya said through mutual relation and cultural exchange, International trade will thrive.
Imara Daima Rep Kennedy Obuya said Nairobi was the headquarters of the British East Africa Protectorate and by Joining such forums, residents stand to benefit from partnerships.
