The Chairperson of the Nairobi City County Assembly Transport and Public Works committee has called on an end to illegal pick up and drop off points in the City.
Nominated MCA Joyce Muthoni who is the new Chairperson, said the City has become chaotic because of the illegal spots.
She has replaced Kiamaiko MCA James Mwangi Wambui as the Chairperson.
During a meeting with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and Nairobi County executive officials, she lamented the lack of order when it comes to PSV’s in the City.
She called on the executive to revoke all the letters issued to matatu operators who occupy illegal drop off and pickup points.
In a meeting held last year, a section of the reps accused County Director of Parking Tom Tinega for illegally issuing Pick/Drop letters to Saccos.
She called on NTSA to cancel licenses of Matutu Saccos that violate traffic and County Government rules.
Muthoni urged the County Government of Nairobi to ensure the City roads are friendly to pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists.
