Nairobi reps have passed a motion to establish a County owned broadcast unit to disseminate information regarding the devolved unit.
Moving the motion, the Deputy Minority Whip Joyce Muthoni said the County will spend over half a billion shillings on advertising in the local media.
She said the County broadcast unit will help save these funds and create jobs.
“This motion will be a boost to the county government, the MCAs and also the City residents. We will have a customized platform where Nairobians will not need to queue for long hours to access services but will access the services from the comfort of their homes or businesses,” Muthoni told the House.
She added that the TV, radio and the online platform will have professionals who will provide long-term stored and accurate information regarding the County.
Lauding her colleagues for passing the motion unanimously, Muthoni said there will be an updated record of various developments in the wards.
“Generations to come will be able to know that this 3rd Assembly existed with evidence from already established units,” she said.
She added that the broadcast policy also seeks to establish the gubernatorial Digital press unit, County TV and Radio Broadcast directorate and Customer service.
