City residents have been urged to boil drinking water to avoid cholera.
Speaking on Saturday at AIPC Church Grounds in Roysambu during the monthly cleanup exercise, County Health Promotion Coordinator Lilian Mutua said most of the germs in water are killed when water boils.
She said Nairobi County is alert and ready to respond to any outbreak.
Mutua said the ongoing monthly clean up has helped keep Nairobi clean and sensitized residents on the need to drink clean water.
“Cholera is caused when feces of a person suffering from cholera contaminate water. So be alert and report any suspected cholera cases so that we deal with them,” she said.
She asked the residents to continue partnering with the County government in the clean up.
Governor Mike Sonko said he was happy there are no reported cases of cholera in any of the County facilities.
H e said his beautification programme has helped keep Nairobi clean and urged residents to continue maintaining high hygienic standards.
“Cholera was in Nairobi Hospital. Not in any of our facilities,” he said.
