Drama at Nairobi City County Assembly may never end.
The Employment and Labor Relations Court has kicked out former Nairobi City County Assembly Clerk Jacob Ngwele.
On Wednesday, the Court ruled that embattled Ngwele should step aside pending the hearing and determination of his case.
He rushed to court and obtained orders where the Court suspended the appointment of Edward Gichana as the Clerk.
Gichana was sworn in and gazetted as the Clerk last week.
Ngwele has fallen out with MCAs, Speaker Beatrice Elachi and several staff at the Assembly.
In the ruling, Justice Maureen Onyango directed that the Deputy Clerk takes over the functions of the office pending judgment in October.
However, Adah Awuor Onyango who was Ngweles deputy was interdicted over disciplinary cases.
Pauline Akuku applied for the position of Deputy Clerk and was successful.
The Judge said that even though Ngwele is the current Clerk of the Assembly, he should step aside until the case is concluded.
“In the meantime, Muvengei Jacob Ngwele to step aside until determination of the petition. The Deputy Clerk currently in office will take over the functions of the Clerk until the petition is determined” the court ruled on Wednesday.
Ngwele moved to court challenging the appointment of Gichana and the court is expected to rule on the matter on October 16.
Ngwele seems to be the proverbial City Hall “cat with 9 lives”.
However, as days come and go, he seems to be losing the fight.
He was kicked out of City Hall in July and Edward Gichana sworn in to replace him as the Clerk.
