A DCI officer from Kilimani police station in Nairobi is now a successful Author of Novels.
The officer has helped stop the myths that Cops lack education.
Simeon Uwuoga Adol is a Police officer within the DCI department.
Despite his busy schedule, he spares some time to pen Novels.
“I was born and brought up in a typical rural African village, an environment in which your upbringing is not only the onus of your immediate parents but the community as well,” he told Hot News.
He said that writing was his childhood passion since he was in primary school and he was fond of writing stories.
“Anytime can be a writing time so long as you want to do so. Talking of lack of time to write is an escapist gimmick to justify one’s lack of commitment to writing I used to write any time I felt like even if it meant the entire night,” he said.
He said that on some occasions, he carried out some research on the topic he wanted to write on and in some cases he never did.
He said that most of his writings are fiction.
“You should know that writers are like gods of some sort; they create their own universe and create their own characters. In the ‘The Wrath’ the author reflects a mirror of our society; the structural framework is all anchored on our traditional practices-Wrath because the unfolding events in the book leave the characters in fear of what is in store for them,” he said.
He said that the book had initially been rejected but he refused to change its tittle.
Other books that the cop has written include The African Root on Trials- which cuts across the ethnic and racial boundaries.
He has written another book ‘The Princes for Marriage’ which he finished on 30th May 2020 and it is longer than The Wrath.
“I therefore made a record time of writing it within three months,” he said.
The officer advised on those aspiring to write to come up guns blazing and do it.
Police officer Adol added that the cost of writing is “harsh” and urged the government to help bring it down.
