Gichana takes over from embattled Jacob Ngwele who had sued the Speaker and the County Assembly Service Board.
However, on 20th July, the employment and Labour relations court issued stay orders and the Assembly went ahead and replaced Ngwele.
Gichana has been the, Nairobi County Head Internal Audit Unit and Risk Management.
Speaker Beatrice Elachi welcomed Gichana and promised he will support him.
Elachi asked wrangling factions at City Hall to put aside their differences and serve city residents.
Ngweles supporters told Hot News they will sabotage the new Clerk.
Some angry MCAs complained that during the interviews for the Clerk, their favorite candidates were locked out.
The reps who wanted Gichana said they will do everything to ensure he has a “smooth ride” at City Hall.
