Nairobi Governor Anne Kananu on Tuesday led women in condemning the sexual assault of a female driver by Boda Boda operators after an accident along Wangari Maathai road on Friday.
She was speaking during the World Women’s day.
Kananu said her administration has started building a safe house where women affected by gender based violence can recover.
The event was attended by Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris, Chief Administrative Secretary, Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs & Special Programmes Rachael Shebesh and City MCAs.
Kananu lauded Jubilee MCA Wanjiku Kariuki for coming up with the Gender Based Violence Bill which she signed into law last November .
