The fight at the Nairobi County Assembly seems not to be over.
As days come and go- more and more MCA’s are getting hurt!
The latest causality in the war is Matopeni MCA Abdi Guyo.
Despite retaining his position as the Leader of Majority in the Assembly, Guyo has been replaced at the County Assembly Service Board.
The Board comprised of the Speaker as the Chairperson, Clerk as the Secretary, Majority and Minority leaders and a non-MCA representing the Public.
It is the sole decision-making organ of the Assembly and has a budget of over 1.4 billion shillings to be spent this financial year.
Last week, ODM replaced Minority leader, Kileleshwa MCA Elias Otieno with Nairobi West MCA Maurice Gari in the Service Board.
Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju on Tuesday wrote to Elachi indicating that the Party had replaced Abdi Guyo with Maringo Hamza MCA Mark Ndung’u as a member of the Board.
“Following the many crises in the leadership in the Nairobi County Assembly, we are doing due consultations within the Party so that we will present to the Assembly a leadership structure that takes cognizance of key considerations like diversity, competence and gender mix,” Tuju said.
He added that “Given the imperatives you are facing, we hereby nominate Mark Ndung’u Ng’ang’a , MCA for Maringo Hamza Ward to serve on the board until such a time that we will communicate the final leadership list,”
Elachi went ahead to gazette the names of Mark Ndung’u and Maurice Gari as members of the Board.
The two were latter sworn in by herself on Wednesday afternoon.
The ouster of Guyo from the Nairobi County Assembly Service Board means his “powers have been clipped” and his growing influence “nipped in the bud”
Guyo was opposed to Elachi’s return to City Hall and has also fallen out with Governor Mike Sonko.
A week ago, he unsuccessfully tried to block Elachi from returning to City Hall.
Elachi had been impeached by MCA’s last year but reinstated by the Court.
Before she was impeached, Elachi fell out with Clerk Jacob Ngwele over the award of several tenders worth millions.
Ngwele is also reportedly opposed to Elachi’s comeback at City Hall.
Several MCA’s have called for the removal of Ng’wele saying he has never been vetted and formerly approved by the Assembly.
Ngwele has told them off and that they can choose to go to court.
Its not clear what “secret cards” Elachi will pull out of her bag to deal with Ngwele since he is perceived as the “only remaining stumbling block”
